Antonio Valle founded the company in Padua
Valsport was born in Padua in 1920 from an idea of Antonio Valle, a young man full of enthusiasm and
inventiveness who decided, when he was only eighteen, to create a company for the production of footwear
and sports equipment. Valle’s far-sightedness led him to combine attention to detail and craftsmanship with
careful research into technical and aesthetic aspects. This was the key to success: in just a few years
Valsport became one of the first sports footwear manufacturers at national level.
From the Olympics to the international stages
In 1960 Rome hosted the Games of the XVII Olympiad in an edition that proved extraordinary for the
performances of athletes who will remain immortal in the history of sport: Wilma Rudolph, Al Oerter, Abebe
Bikita and the Italian Livio Berruti. Our sprinter, on the 3rd of September 1960, won the Olympic gold medal
in the 200 metres with a time of 20″5, equalling the world record for the speciality. As he crossed the finish
line, under the eyes of an admiring town, Livio Berruti wore Valsport spiked shoes that already stood out for
their style and quality. A few years later Berruti himself said in an interview: “I had a habit of wearing white
shoes. I bought Valsport shoes for the final.

In the following years, Valsport continued its rise, becoming the reference brand for sport and competitive
activities such as football, boxing, Formula One, athletics, cycling…
Tournament, Olimpia and Davis were reinterpreted with style
In 2016 Valsport came back home and started again from the great classics that have made our history: the
historical models of the brand are reborn, Tournament, Olimpia, Davis, reinterpreted to become the
protagonists of every kind of outfit and occasion. Over the years, the collection has been enriched with new
styles and new models, which we produce strictly in Italian artisan workshops using top quality materials.
The fil rouge that runs through Valsport’s 100 years of history is the lesson passed on by Antonio Valle, and
today carried on by his son Guido: attention to detail, craftsmanship, research from a technical point of view
as the key to a product ready to win every challenge!

To celebrate the 100 years of Valsport, in 2020, we have created Tournament Centenario: 1920 numbered,
authentic and unique pieces handmade after a careful research and selection of the best Italian raw
materials. What better way to remember our past with an eye to the future?
We love our past, what it taught us, what it allowed us to learn: the skill and the knowledge passed down
from craftsman to craftsman allow us today to create footwear of superior quality in terms of the materials
used and attention to detail, unique pieces handmade in Italy. The future belongs to those who have a past.
Starting from the 60’s, and more and more during the 70’s, Valsport becomes a reference brand in the world
of sport: quality of materials, continuous technical innovation and design make it the first choice of many
sportsmen of undisputed greatness. In a short time it became the supplier of choice for many great teams:
the Italian national football team, Juventus but also volleyball, cycling and athletics teams both in Italy and
abroad.
